This site is dedicated to the memory of Sylvester (Coach Sly) Scott Jr.

Sylvester Scott Jr., 37, of Albany, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 23, 2013. Sylvester was born in Niagara Falls, New York on January 1, 1976, to Gail Scott (Harris) and Sylvester Scott Sr. He attended local schools in Niagara Falls and was a star athlete on the community center “Biddy League” Basketball Teams. Sylvester moved to Albany, NY in the early 90’s and graduated from Albany High School in 1994. He went on to attend College at Sage JCA of Albany. Sylvester married Nabresha Hicks on December 10, of 2007, and he was the loving Father of their two beautiful daughters, A’yauna and Zy’aira Scott. Sylvester was well known for his talent on the basketball court, his great sense of humor, and his kind disposition. He was a devoted Volunteer Coach, and mentor at Club Zoe, Inc. in Albany. He also organized a movement against violence; Eye over E (Intelligence Over Emotions). Sylvester spent much of his time promoting events to Stop Violence. He impacted the lives of the youth in his community and he was an advocate for bringing an end to black on black crime. Sylvester carried a message of faith, love, unity, and peace. He shared that message with those around him. Sylvester will be greatly missed by all who loved him. His family plans to make sure that his legacy continues. Sylvester is survived by his significant other, Camelle Osbourne, his two children, A’yauna and Zy’aira Scott, his Parents Gail Harris and Sylvester (Gloria) Scott Sr., two brothers, James and Elexander Scott, four sisters, Schamille Beaman, Ayauna (Jamond) Barron, Shatonah Scott, and Sharise Scott, his Grandmother, Twynette Beaman, seven nieces, Amani, Innocense, Genesis and Jailee, Onesha, Sashae, Shanesha and four nephews, Semaj, Sheldon, Gregory and Shilhoh, his best friend, Keith Muhammad, and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Sylvester is predeceased by his Grandmother, Ruth Scott and his cousins, Chevonne Burton, Donald Paige Jr and Antoine (Chip) Bradberry. A memorial will be held at Saint John AME Church, 917 Garden Avenue Niagara Falls, New York, on Tuesday December 31, 2013 at 11am.
